Episode 97: Pregnancy Prep: Strengthening your Pelvic Floor with Dr. Angie Mueller

The most marvelous thing about the human body is its ability to heal itself. As a physical therapist specializing in pelvic health and prenatal/postpartum training, Dr. Angie Mueller focuses her therapy on providing energy to remove obstacles to allow natural healing to occur.

After earning a bachelor's degree in health & science with a concentration in sports medicine from Colorado State University, Dr. Mueller went on to write her doctoral thesis on the effects of pregnancy and delivery on the pelvic floor muscles. After working with athletes, she created a women's health program for women needing surgical intervention for pelvic issues such as prolapse, incontinence, pelvic pain, and endometriosis.

This work introduced Dr. Mueller to Maya medicine, the work of Rosita Arvigo, and mentor, Cindy Aprosmonte, who taught Dr. Mueller about indigenous medicine. These new methodologies lead Dr. Mueller to incorporate abdominal massage and passive organ positioning into her physical therapy protocols.

Dr. Mueller has incorporated all of this incredible learning and training into her a powerful new protocol to treat women and men, athletes and non-athletes, with core, back, and pelvic health issues. The Core Recover Method has helped Dr. Mueller's patients find complete resolution of their pelvic and core issues.

In this episode, you will learn more about:

  • Preparing your pelvic floor for pregnancy and delivery

  • Why you should strengthen whole muscle groups (instead of focusing only on Kegels)

  • The importance of breath practice and awareness for strength building and delivery
