What Can HTMA Testing Actually Tell You About Your Hormones?

You know what's been on top of everyone's requests lately? HTMA testing - Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis. I get asked all the time if I'll run a test for someone and I totally get it! You can learn so much from labs like this, but I want to take a moment to explain why I don't simply run labs without considering the bigger picture.

I'm constantly bombarded with questions like, "Can you review my blood work?" or "Can I do XYZ test?" Labs are just a small piece of the puzzle when it comes to healing. However, out of all the lab tests I've encountered, I genuinely believe that every single person can benefit from an HTMA.

Not everyone needs to do a Dutch panel or a GMAT. Don't get me wrong, those tests are fantastic, and I use them frequently. However, an HTMA has broad applications and benefits for absolutely everyone because it shows you exactly where your body needs the most support right now.

Why HTMA Testing is Different from Regular Blood Work

If you've listened to this podcast episode where we go over my co-coach, Kaitlin's, labs, you're probably already aware of the wonders of hair mineral analysis. HTMA’s give us a unique perspective.

When you run a blood test, for example, it doesn't always show you the full picture because our blood is constantly striving for homeostasis. This means it often pulls or pushes minerals into our tissues to maintain that balance, so your blood test may give you results that aren't showing what's really going on inside your body.

That means an HTMA can provide insights before we see them in a blood test!

What Minerals Reveal About Your Hormone Health

If you're struggling with weight loss, experiencing PMS, or battling digestion issues, guess where I start? Minerals! They're the spark plugs and building blocks our bodies need to function optimally. The HTMA is remarkable because it unveils the intricate connection between minerals and our hormones.

Here's what minerals reveal about your health:

  • Direct impact on stomach acid production

  • Essential ratios that show how well your body utilizes thyroid hormone

  • How effectively you're managing blood sugar

  • Your metabolism and adrenal health status

  • The cellular vitality of your body

  • The intricate connection between minerals and hormones

Why This Matters

Say you've been diligently taking magnesium supplements, but you haven't noticed a significant difference. This is where HTMA testing becomes invaluable. It might reveal that you're actually low in potassium, which is key for utilizing magnesium effectively.

And let's not forget about the controversial topic of vitamin D supplementation. I can count on one hand the number of times I've recommended vitamin D supplementation alone. Why? Because you need co-factors like magnesium, vitamin B6, and boron to absorb and utilize vitamin D properly. It's not just about looking at a single blood test or thinking, "I don't get much sun, so I'll pop a vitamin D pill." We need to examine the entire picture to make sure you're getting the results you're after.

I Won't Just Hand You a Lab Report

My reluctance to run standalone labs is rooted in my belief that treating the lab results alone won't fully resolve your symptoms. It's about addressing the whole person, considering your unique circumstances, and working together to identify and fix the underlying root causes.

While labs can provide guidance on your current state, true healing requires adopting healthy habits and making lifestyle changes. It's about implementing protocols and building strong foundations to support your wellness. So, I feel like I'd be doing you a disservice by simply looking at a lab result and offering a solution without addressing the bigger picture.

That's why I have a policy in place where I only run labs for my clients in specific programs. Why? Because I know these individuals have already established their foundations, and I've personally guided them through the process. I've gotten to know them, and together we can piece together their health puzzle.

The Problem with Running an HTMA Alone

If you're dealing with hormonal symptoms and feeling stuck, an HTMA can point you in the right direction to improve your health. By understanding your body's mineral status, you gain valuable insights into what's influencing your hormonal health. HTMA results allow us to address imbalances at their root, leading to more sustainable and long-lasting results.

With an HTMA, we can analyze your unique mineral composition and develop customized protocols to restore hormonal balance. By understanding your HTMA results, we can pinpoint mineral deficiencies or excesses and create strategies to address them. This may include targeted supplements, dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes, and stress management techniques.

But here's where most people get stuck:

They get their HTMA results, see a list of mineral imbalances, order a bunch of supplements, and wonder why nothing changes. The personalized nature of an HTMA should allow for a root-cause approach that tackles the underlying reasons for hormonal imbalances. But without addressing why those imbalances exist in the first place, you're just chasing symptoms.

How the Hormone Reset Program® Uses HTMA Differently

I know there are so many of you who want to run an HTMA and get the personalized support that comes with understanding your results. You want real answers about what's actually happening in your body. You're done with guessing games and generic advice that doesn't work.

That's exactly why I created the Hormone Reset Program®.

Inside the Hormone Reset Program®, you'll get:

  • Comprehensive lab testing, including HTMA and hormone panels, so we can see exactly what's happening in YOUR body

  • Foundation-building work on blood sugar balance, stress management, understanding your cycle, and liver support before we even run your labs

  • A detailed video analysis of your HTMA results in the context of YOUR symptoms and lifestyle

  • A personalized protocol with targeted supplements, specific foods, and lifestyle recommendations created just for you

  • Direct support from my team and I every step of the way

Here's what makes this different from just ordering an HTMA online:

You're not just handed a lab result with a list of supplements to take and sent on your way. Before we even run your labs, we build your foundations together. Because if your body is stressed, undernourished, and inflamed, no supplement protocol in the world will fix your hormones long-term.

Then, when we get your HTMA results back, I create a detailed video analysis that dives deep into what your results mean in the context of YOUR symptoms, YOUR lifestyle, and everything we've already worked on together. You're not just a number on a lab report. You're a whole person with a unique health story, and that matters.

The Hormone Reset Program® isn't about slapping a band-aid on your symptoms or just looking at numbers on a page. We're addressing the root cause of why your hormones are out of balance in the first place and building a foundation for lasting hormone health. Because that's what actually works. That's what gets you off the symptom roller coaster and into a body that feels good again.
